Neurosurgery Researchers Win Neuroscience Awards

During the recent Michigan Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience meeting held at the Michigan Science Center, Wayne State University, and more specifically, the Department of Neurosurgery, were represented well. With over 90 posters submitted and judged during the conference, 3 of the 5 award winners were from Wayne State. Of those 3 winners, 2 were researchers with the Department of Neurosurgery.
 
In the graduate student division, Paul Fu was recognized as a winner for his poster titled Acute Administration of Ethanol Reduced Brain Apoptosis by Regulating Expression of Apoptotic Proteins in Ischemic Stroke. Paul is a third-year medical student at Wayne State that has been working in the lab of Dr. Yuchuan Ding.
 
In the postdoctoral realm, the poster Deficits in Behavioral Sensitization and Dopaminergic Responses to Methaphetamine in Adenylyl Cyclase 1/8 Knockout Mice, was selected as the winner. This poster was the work of Dr. Kelly Bosse, one of the postdoctoral researchers in the lab of Dr. Alana Conti.
