Dr. Sandra Narayanan Wins Rhonda Walker Foundation Award

Dr. Sandra Narayanan, one of Neurosurgery Department's talented endovascular surgeons, was recently honored for her committment to medicine and as an inspriration for inner city teenage girls by the Rhonda Walker Foundation.

On October 23rd 2011, the 7th Annual Moving With Success Empowerment Brunch honoring Powerful Women of Purpose was held at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit, Michigan. At this ceremony Dr. Narayanan, along with a list of other distinguished honorees, were acknowledged for their service to their field of expertise, their communities, and to the advancement of young women residing in Detroit and the metro Detroit region.

Dr. Narayanan was specifically noted for her work in stroke care, and her experience and expertise with the Merci Clot Retriever, the Penumbra Repurfusion, and the clot-busting drug tPA. Furthermore, her work with the stroke intervention team at the DMC and WSUPG was also noted as being extraordinary, life-saving, and disability-preventing.
