Detroit Brain Aneurysm Support Group Has First Meeting at HUH
Partnering with The Joe Niekro Foundation (JNF) for the last year, Sandra Narayanan MD, FAHA and Carol Wynn MSN, NP-C have set up a Detroit Brain Aneurysm Support Group in Detroit, and it has just had its first meeting on March 16th, 2015. Seventeen people attended the first meeting, including some that travelled over 120 miles to take part!
Joe Niekro was a pitcher for the Tigers, Houston Astros, and other Major League teams, and died of an aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage in 2006. His daughter, Natalie Niekro, started the JNF in 2007 to promote brain aneurysm awareness, support, and research.
Meetings will be held the 3rd Monday of the month from 6-8 pm and are run by an aneurysm/AVM/hemorrhagic stroke survivor/facilitator. Physicians, caregivers, survivors, and family members are all welcome to attend.
