Sandra Narayanan, MD, Samuel Tsappidi, MD, Appointed as Program Directors
Two of our neuroendovascular surgeons have been recently placed into program directorship roles at two different hospital systems.
Sandra Narayanan, MD, was recently appointed as Director of the Neuroendovascular Program at the Detroit Medical Center. This appointment was made by both Thomas Malone, MD, President of Harper University Hospital and Hutzel Women's Hospital, and Murali Guthikonda, MD, FACS, Specialist in Chief of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Detroit Medical Center and L. Murray Thomas Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Wayne State University.
Dr. Narayanan has been with the DMC and WSUPG since 2009, after attending medical school at the University of Miami, and serving fellowships in vascular neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital, and in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology at Emory University Hospital. She also is an assistant professor with Wayne State University in the departments of neurosurgery and neurology.
Samuel Tsappidi, MD, was recently appointed as Director of the Neuroendovascular Program for Oakwood Hospitals. Douglas Welday, Executive Vice President of Operations for Oakwood Hospitals, made this appointment.
Dr. Tsappidi joined our department in 2011. He attended Christian Medical School in Vellore, India, and the University of Louisville. He has completed several fellowships in vascular neurology, neurocritical care, diagnostic neuroradiology, and interventional neuroradiology at Emory University. Dr. Tsappidi also is an assistant professor with Wayne State University in the departments of neurosurgery and neurology.
