Raising Stroke Awareness

On May 1st, two of our talented and knowledgeable endovascular neurologists, Drs. Sandra Narayanan and Andrew Xavier, traveled to the Southfield Public Library to interact with the public about stroke awareness.

The event, which was greatly attended, covered a wide spectrum of topics dealing with stroke; these included:

  • A seminar which showcased the facts and symptoms of stroke.
  • Methods for how to empower yourself and loved ones to make decisions that lower the risk of stroke.
  • Descriptions of innovative new treatment methods for stroke.

Furthermore, those in attendance had the opportunity to engage in one-on-one conversations with Drs. Narayanan and Xavier about stroke. As both of them are nationally recognized experts about stroke and its treatment, this was certainly a valuable opportunity for those in attendance.

The Department of Neurosurgery strives to make sure it reaches back to the community and provides care and information to those that need it the most. For more information on our informational and community-based programs, please contact us at (877) 486-7978 or jont@med.wayne.edu.
