Resident Service at Sinai-Grace Hospital
Sinai-Grace Hospital (SGH), a Level 2 trauma center, is a community-based neurosurgical service located in northwest Detroit. The SGH faculty primarily cover general neurosurgery needs with an emphasis on trauma, both spine and brain, and also elective spine and spinal instrumentation procedures. The rotation includes preoperative patient evaluation in both the emergency department and the neurosurgical clinic located in Southfield, Michigan.
In addition to emergency and consultative patient evaluation, residents are taught surgical training, postoperative patient care and neurocritical care. The goals of this rotation are to expose the resident to community-based and private practice neurosurgery, evaluate and treat trauma related injuries in the brain and spine, and evaluate and treat general neurosurgical problems with an emphasis on spine and spinal instrumentation.
The Sinai Grace Service is directed by Dr. Robert Johnson. Other attendings on the service but not appointed to the WSU faculty include Drs. Holly Gilmer, Miguel Lis Planells, Phillip Friedman, Dan Fahim, Jeff Jacob, and Mark Goldberger.
