L. Murray Thomas Visiting Professor Lecture - Midori Yenari, MD

Midori Yenari, MD will be giving the next L. Murray Thomas Visiting Professor Lecture during the grand rounds session on June 20th, 2012.

Her talk, titled NADPH Oxidase in Experimental Stroke: The Importance of Circulating Immune Cells, will be given at the Margherio Conference Center, in the Mazurek Medical Commons.  The Mazurek Medical Commons is located on the campus of the Wayne State University School of Medicine at 320 East Canfield.

Dr. Yenari specializes in vascular neurology, and is on the faculty in the Department of Neurology and the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program at the Unviersity of California, San Francisco. She is also a staff neurologist at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Her research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of stroke and potential therapies particularly as they pertain to anti-inflammatory treatments and gene therapy. She also studies heat shock proteins and therapeutic mild hypothermia as a potential treatment for stroke.
